Chlamydia Ad

http://www.couldihaveit.com.au/media/Radio_passing.mp3

The ad I found was a radio ad from couldihaveit.com.  This ad emphasizes how quickly and easily chlamydia can spread.  It also informs people that most of the time men and women will show no symptoms.  Therefore, it is important that one should take a simple urine test.  Though this ad does not present a lot of information on chlamydia, the information it does share is all true.  I believe this ad is effective because it will get people wondering 'maybe I have chlmydia'.  I think knowing that chlamydia often has no symptoms is the most important thing to know about the infection.  This is because it will make you more cautious about having sexual relations with unknown partners.

This ad is targeted to both men and women who are sports fans.  I think it is a great analogy of a sports announcer announcing a game to how fast chlamydia can be spread.  It really puts it into perspective.  Media in today's world, I believe, plays a huge part in spreading knowledge and portraying societal expectations.  If getting tested for any STD is acceptable in society, I think more people are likely to get tested and make the world a safer place.

  1. I really like how you talked about how fast chlamydia can spread. The fact that people that have the infection have no symptoms is the reason for the spreading. This reminds me of what was talked about in class and that is even though that the girl "looks clean," it doesn't mean that she doesn't have an infection.

  2. It is true even from our exercise we did in class we can see how fast it can spread. It is really a scary thought! It is true the best thing you can do is just get tested, and always practice safe sex!! The more we are aware of the diseases and how you can get them can prevent a lot of sexually transmitted diseases from spreading.
